Men’s Basketball in Sydney

Find a regular men’s basketball game that suits your team’s experience and travel plans. Sydney Social Basketball runs organised adult competitions across Sydney, from lower-grade social games to high-grade divisions for experienced teams.

Choose your playing standard

Our grades are a guide to the general standard of a competition:

  • Grade 1: our highest standard, for experienced and higher-level teams.
  • Grade 2: experienced to intermediate teams seeking a competitive game.
  • Grade 3: intermediate and developing teams, often with a mix of experience.
  • Grade 4: lower-grade and developing teams, including newer social teams.
  • Grade 5: recreational, novice and beginner teams focused on participation and enjoyment.

Some divisions combine grades. Choose based on your whole team, and tell us about your experience and preferred grade when registering. Teams are assessed to help create competitive games; a place in a particular division cannot be guaranteed.

What to expect

Men’s games consist of two fully timed 15-minute halves. The clock stops on all whistles, so games generally take about 45–55 minutes.

SSB aims to provide two referees and a dedicated bench staff member for every game. Teams are never expected to do bench duty. Points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks are recorded on individual player profiles.

All players must be at least 18 and have an active Annual Player Registration. Your venue page includes the relevant competition bylaws and Code of Conduct.
