Sydney Social Basketball runs organised adult men’s, women’s and mixed basketball competitions across Sydney. We cater for all playing standards, from beginners and social players through to experienced, high-grade teams.
You can enter a pre-formed team with people you know or use our Find a Team page to join a team.
For a team with eight players sharing the costs, the Team Fee and Annual Player Registration generally work out to approximately $15–$20 per player, per game.

Each competition has a fixed Team Fee for the full season. Team Fees range from $1,175 to $1,825 per team, depending on the competition and the length of the season. The applicable total is displayed on each competition’s webpage.
The Team Fee:
There are no additional compulsory weekly game, referee or bench fees.
Every player must maintain an active Annual Player Registration.

Registration lasts for 12 months from the player’s next game after payment.
Any player who does not need a new jersey may choose the $56 option. Players are not required to purchase a new jersey each year.
Annual Player Registration is an individual player cost and is separate from the Team Fee.
A $200 Team Nomination payment is required each season when a team nominates to enter or re-enter a competition. This applies to new teams, returning teams and teams joining a waitlist.
The $200 payment:
The nomination payment forms part of the Team Fee when your team joins the competition. It is not an additional $200 charge on top of the advertised Team Fee.
If a competition is currently full, teams can nominate to join its waitlist by submitting a Team Nomination and paying the $200 nomination payment.
Joining a waitlist does not guarantee that a place will become available. Waitlisted teams will be contacted if Sydney Social Basketball can offer them a place in the competition. Spots generally become available around the end of the current season, once the competition has completed its re-registration period.

Please contact us if you would like to leave the waitlist and have your nomination payment refunded.
New teams must pay the remaining balance of their Team Fee within 14 days of being accepted into the competition.
Existing and returning teams have until Round 3 of the new season to pay the remaining balance.
In both cases, the $200 Team Nomination payment is deducted before the outstanding balance is calculated.
Sydney Social Basketball organises and manages each league. We aim to provide two referees and a dedicated bench staff member for every game.
Teams are never expected to do bench duty. SSB provides bench staff.
Players also receive individual game statistics through their online player profiles.
Men’s and women’s games consist of two fully timed 15-minute halves, providing a total of 30 minutes of playing time. Fully timed means the clock stops on all whistles.
Games generally take approximately 45–55 minutes to complete.
Mixed games consist of two 17-minute running-clock halves, providing a total of 34 minutes of playing time.

The grades available vary between venues. We assess teams and structure divisions with the aim of producing competitive and appropriately graded games.
You can form a team with friends, colleagues or other people you know and nominate for a particular location and competition.
New and returning teams must submit a $200 Team Nomination payment. The payment is deducted from the total Team Fee when the team is accepted.
Teams may also nominate for the waitlist if their preferred competition is currently full.
